Trig - Last updated 09/30/2026
Trig has no account and no server of its own. What it reads from Apple Health and your calendar stays on your iPhone and in your iPhone backups, unless you export your training. The other exception is the map area around a run you open, which goes to Apple Maps. The only thing Trig saves to Health is a strength session you start and finish in the app.

Other than a training export you make, Trig only sends out three things:
-Your location, to Apple Weather
-The area around a run you open, to Apple Maps
-The race name you type in race search, to RunSignup

Apple Health

With your permission, Trig reads:
-Your runs, including the heart rate, calories, and route of each one
-Today's step count
-Your height, weight, biological sex, and date of birth

It uses these to:
-Start your plan from what you've actually been running
-Mark a run from your Apple Watch done and count it toward your plan
-Show each run's splits, heart rate, calories, and route on a map
-Show today's steps on Today
-Fill in your profile so you don't have to type it in

With your permission, Trig also saves each strength session you start and finish in the app to Health, as a strength workout with its start and end time, so it shows in your workout history. A session you log later without starting it in Trig is never saved to Health, because it has no real start or end time.

A run's route is read from Health when you open that run and drawn on your iPhone. Trig doesn't keep it. To draw the map underneath, Trig asks Apple Maps for the map of that area. Apple handles that request under its own privacy policy.

Trig keeps your run log, and your height, weight, biological sex, and date of birth, in its own storage on your iPhone. Trig never sends any Health data to me.

Trig does not use Health data for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and never sells it or shares it with anyone.

You can change what Trig may read or write at any time in the Health app (tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Trig).

Calendar

With your permission, Trig reads your calendar on your iPhone to notice when something might conflict with a training session, so it can suggest moving that session. When an event does overlap a training session, Trig keeps a note of the event's title and dates on your iPhone so it does not ask you about the same event twice. Trig never adds, changes, or deletes anything on your calendar, and never sends your calendar anywhere.

Location

While you are using the app, Trig uses your location only to read the temperature and dew point where you are. That request goes to Apple Weather. Trig does not store your location or send it anywhere else. Apple handles the weather request under its own privacy policy.

Race search

When you search for a race in Trig, the race name you type is sent to RunSignup, a race registration service, to find the race, its date and distance, and its past results. Trig doesn't send your name or anything else from your profile with it, however, RunSignup can see your device's internet address. RunSignup handles the search under its own privacy policy.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything Trig keeps is in its own storage on your iPhone:
-Your training plan, run log, profile, calendar notes, and settings
-A few automatic copies of your plan, so a damaged file can be recovered
-The race you choose as your goal race
-Your answers to Strength's questions, including any pain, injury, or surgery you tell it about
-The lifts you log in Strength

None of it leaves your iPhone unless you export your training or back up your iPhone.

Trig doesn't sync anything through iCloud. Its data is included in your iPhone's backups if you have those turned on, whether they go to iCloud or to your computer. Deleting Trig deletes all of it from your iPhone, except the strength workouts already saved to Health. Those stay in the Health app until you delete them there.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Trig only uses them to tell you when a rest between sets is over. They are set up on your iPhone, and nothing is sent anywhere.

No accounts, no server, no tracking

Trig has no login and no user accounts, and there is no Trig server, so there is nowhere on my end for your data to go. Trig has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking, and the only outside code in it is Apple's own.

Children's privacy

Trig isn't directed at children, and nothing it keeps is ever sent to me.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top.
